Boston Conservatory at Music is established.

February 11, 1867

It is located initially at 154 Tremont Street. Programs in dance and theater are subsequently added and it becomes the oldest performing arts conservatory in the U.S. Incorporated on August 15, 1914, as the Boston Conservatory of Music and Oratory, it moves to 256 Huntington Avenue in July 1933, adopts its original name in 1935, moves to 31 Hemenway Street in 1936, then its current location in the former Boston Medical Library at 8 Fenway on April 21, 1938. The school first grants bachelor’s degrees in 1939, becomes the Boston Conservatory in 1982, and Boston Conservatory at Berklee when it merges with Berklee College of Music in 2016.
